Adapt the application layer of the platform from AWS to Microsoft Azure.
Own application code, data access, and integrations while collaborating with DevOps engineers responsible for infrastructure.
Contract of up to six months focused on Java service adaptation, data migration, and performance stability.
Responsibilities
- Port Java Spring Boot services, data access layers, and third-party integrations from AWS to Azure.
- Replace AWS SDK usage with Azure equivalents for storage, messaging, identity, and serverless functions.
- Move MongoDB and PostgreSQL workloads to Azure managed databases while preserving consistency and performance.
- Ensure services run on AKS, collaborating with DevOps on Dockerfiles, Helm charts, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Debug application-level errors and edge cases arising during the environment shift.
- Document changes and work with in-house engineers to support handoff at contract end.
Requirements
- Deep production-level Java and Spring Boot experience and a record of refactoring complex systems for cloud compatibility.
- Experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL, including queries, indexing, drivers or ORM usage, and Azure managed databases.
- Experience with message queues such as SQS or Service Bus, or similar, and object storage such as S3 or Blob Storage.
- Experience with OAuth2/OIDC and identity providers such as Cognito or Entra ID.
- Real-world experience migrating live production workloads to Azure with minimal downtime.
- Developer-level Docker and Kubernetes experience, plus Git and CI/CD workflows.
- Self-starting, pragmatic, able to manage time, deliver working code, and flag roadblocks early.
Additional skills
- Active Azure certification such as AZ-204 or AZ-400 is an additional skill.
- Strong AWS background, including EKS, S3, SQS, Cognito, Lambda, or CloudWatch, is helpful.
- Python experience is secondary to Java.
