Senior IT Systems Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Improve Okta-centered identity and access services, including SSO, account provisioning, MFA, access policies, and emergency access.
• Lead Google Workspace administration and improvement across users, groups, Gmail, Drive, shared drives, collaboration, and security settings.
• Help develop JumpCloud and device-management practices across macOS, Windows, and Linux, including configuration, security, software deployment, and onboarding.
• Automate onboarding, role changes, and offboarding across identity, devices, and SaaS using tools such as Okta Workflows, n8n, Python, and APIs.
• Assess systems, find gaps, investigate cross-service issues, address root causes, and deliver improvements.
• Administer core SaaS applications and establish practices for setup, integrations, access requests, approvals, and reviews.
• Partner with Security and Risk and Audit on controls and evidence for ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2.
• Lead projects from scoping and design through rollout and handover; coordinate dependencies, risks, and progress, and share knowledge.

Candidate requirements

• Hands-on experience across identity, collaboration tools, endpoint management, and SaaS administration.
• Strong expertise in at least one of Okta, Google Workspace, or JumpCloud, with ability to work across the others.
• Experience deploying or significantly improving an MDM or endpoint management platform and rolling out tested configurations with minimal disruption.
• Build reliable automation using workflow tools, APIs, webhooks, and Python or a comparable scripting language; consider error handling, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to assess and improve systems or processes, with clear results.
• Independent technical judgment, ownership, and ability to communicate trade-offs and practical plans.
• Experience implementing and documenting security controls; ISO 27001 or SOC 2 experience is valuable.
• Clear communication and collaboration in a remote, multicultural team.
• Typically six or more years of relevant IT engineering, systems administration, identity, or endpoint management experience; equivalent experience is accepted.
• M&A integration experience, developer-heavy company experience, and professional French are bonuses.

• Remote work is the employer’s stated working model; hiring is currently focused on Canada, France, Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Hiring process

• The process includes four Google Meet interviews: Talent Acquisition, the hiring manager, a team interview, and an executive interview.
• All roles require background checks.
