Senior HVAC + MEP Designer

Role overview

Design and coordination responsibilities

• Design HVAC, ventilation, air conditioning, and ductwork layouts.
• Prepare layouts for air handling units, fan coil units, blowers, chillers, and other equipment.
• Create 2D air-side system and ducting drawings, including accessories.
• Model equipment from vendor data and design or draft supports, grilles, dampers, and louvers.
• Prepare schematics, issued-for-construction drawings, and bills of quantities.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, process, and utility disciplines, contractors, and project teams.
• Develop HVAC, plumbing, and electrical designs using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• Perform load calculations, duct sizing, and equipment selection.
• Prepare and validate Air Flow Diagrams, HVAC layouts, and HVAC material take-offs.

Experience and education

• Requires 12–15 years of HVAC/MEP design experience and at least five years in oil and gas.
• Requires a diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field from a recognized institution, with relevant Middle East experience.
• Concept, FEED, and detailed engineering exposure on medium-to-large-scale Middle East projects is preferred.

Technical skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, and MS Office is specified.
• Must be able to prepare Air Flow Diagrams and P&IDs independently using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Hands-on E3D modelling experience for HVAC duct routing and accessories is specified, particularly for offshore projects.
• PDMS G.A. drawing extraction, support selection and modelling to standards, and HVAC material take-offs are included among the technical competencies.
• S3D experience is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, NBC, IS Codes, IEC, and local regulations is desirable but not mandatory.
• English communication ability is specified.

Location

• The role is stated to be based in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
• Onshore and offshore experience is a plus but is not mandatory.
