About This Role
Overview
- We are looking for a highly hands-on GitLab platform specialist to take ownership of an enterprise GitLab environment.
- This role focuses on self-managed GitLab architecture, modernizing CI/CD, and migrating from legacy toolchains.
- ⚠ Important
- Only candidates currently based in Saudi Arabia with a valid visa will be considered
- Minimum 7+ years of hands-on GitLab experience is mandatory
- 3-month onsite contract in Riyadh
- 👉 Note:
- This role is specifically for engineers who have operated and administered self-managed GitLab environments, not just developers who have used GitLab for CI/CD.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize self-managed GitLab architecture
- Lead migration from legacy CI/CD platforms (e.g., Jenkins)
- Configure and maintain GitLab Geo and multi-region environments
- Troubleshoot complex CI/CD pipelines and runner infrastructure
- Implement DevSecOps controls and security scanning
- Codify infrastructure using Terraform / Ansible
- Perform platform performance tuning and stabilization
- Document architecture, migration steps, and operational procedures
- Engage directly with enterprise stakeholders when required
Mandatory Experience
- 7+ years of hands-on GitLab solution design and implementation experience
- Proven experience executing GitLab migrations in enterprise environments
- Strong knowledge of self-managed GitLab deployments
- Practical experience with HA setup, backup/restore, and disaster recovery
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / Ansible)
- Ability to operate independently without a supporting team
Ideal Background
- Experience with AWS / GCP / Azure
- Strong CI/CD foundation beyond GitLab
- Experience in Kubernetes and container-based workflows
- Comfortable balancing stakeholder communication with hands-on delivery
