Role overview
Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-quality software across front end, back end, APIs, and databases.
Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership on technical direction, platform performance, engineering standards, and developer tooling.
Essential functions
- Build modern eCommerce services within a scalable, secure, AI-driven platform.
- Develop front-end interfaces using React or similar frameworks.
- Implement and maintain APIs, data models, microservices, and background workers.
- Optimize SQL/NoSQL schemas, queries, and data performance.
- Own design, coding, reviews, testing, deployment, and documentation.
- Instrument applications with logging, metrics, and tracing; contribute to alerting and runbooks.
- Participate in on-call rotations and improve reliability through post-incident reviews.
Essential qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- At least five years of professional software engineering experience, including production-system ownership.
- Hands-on Node.js, React, and TypeScript experience, including architecture, state management, data fetching, accessibility, profiling, and testing.
- Experience with API design, asynchronous patterns, and scalable back-end services.
- Knowledge of HTTP, caching, cookies, security headers/CSP, OAuth/OIDC, and secure coding.
- Strong SQL and NoSQL database design, migration, and performance optimization experience.
- Ability to deliver reliable, observable, maintainable software and collaborate with Product and Design.
Relevant technologies and practices
- Node.js, React, and TypeScript.
- SQL and NoSQL databases; APIs, data models, microservices, and background workers.
- Testing tools include React Testing Library and Playwright.
- Logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, security, privacy, and performance practices.
