Company and product
Properta is building an independent property intelligence platform that produces evidence-based reports for residential properties in Dubai.
The platform explains supported price ranges, comparable evidence, evidence limitations, and when available information cannot support a conclusion.
The role is a hands-on, end-to-end engineering position spanning customer software, Python services, data, AI integration, security, and cloud operations.
The engineer reports to the CTO and works with the CTO and product team on agreed MVP deliverables.
Engineering responsibilities
- Build React and TypeScript customer journeys for property entry, onboarding, accounts, report requests, viewing, and sharing; enforce authorization and entitlements server-side.
- Develop Python services and secure REST APIs for authentication, reports, subscriptions, payments, administration, and PDF delivery; maintain API contracts and traceability.
- Integrate property data and analytics with Python, SQL, PostgreSQL, and where appropriate DuckDB; improve ETL/ELT, validation, quality controls, provenance, and reproducibility.
- Implement evidence-controlled reporting, comparable selection, exclusions, confidence rules, and handling of insufficient evidence; distinguish ready and off-plan evidence.
- Integrate AI workflows using model APIs, structured outputs, prompt management, evaluation, guardrails, observability, and cost controls; use RAG, embeddings, or agents when useful.
- Design reliable asynchronous processing, retries, idempotency, and failure handling to prevent duplicate reports or payments.
- Provide secure report access, authorized PDF downloads, and controlled, revocable or expiring sharing links.
- Deploy and operate services on Azure; maintain environment separation, secrets, least privilege, CI/CD, backups, recovery, logging, metrics, alerts, and tracing.
- Write automated tests, diagnose production issues, identify root causes, and deliver lasting fixes.
Required experience and qualifications
- Demonstrated personal ownership of substantial features built, shipped, and supported in a live product; productionizing a prototype or existing codebase is relevant.
- Strong React, TypeScript, and modern web application experience; strong Python and REST API experience, or substantial backend experience with willingness to use Python extensively.
- Strong SQL and relational database experience, with practical data processing, validation, or analytical integration experience.
- Hands-on Azure production deployment and operations experience, plus Docker, Git, and CI/CD.
- Practical AI integration experience or demonstrated ability to implement and evaluate AI integrations in production.
- Security and quality experience including authorization, RBAC, API security, OAuth/OIDC, rate limiting, encryption, secrets management, automated testing, monitoring, and incident resolution.
- Able to implement an agreed architecture across application, cloud, and data layers, surface unclear decisions, and deliver tested work during consistent part-time hours.
- The employer primarily seeks eight or more years of professional engineering experience or equivalent evidence of strong production ownership.
- PostgreSQL, Azure Container Apps, Azure Key Vault, DuckDB, payments, subscriptions, asynchronous processing, RAG, and property or financial data experience are valuable.
- A Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree is preferred; equivalent production engineering experience is considered.
Language
- Professional working English is required for engineering discussions, documentation, and collaboration. Arabic is a plus, not a requirement.
Compensation and employment
- This is a part-time, unpaid pre-launch opportunity with no current salary or stipend.
- A future paid full-time role, salary, and start date are not guaranteed.
- Weekly availability, initial deliverables, and a review date will be agreed in writing before work begins.
Location and availability
- The position is fully remote; applicants must be based in Dubai or India.
- Candidates must be available for regular overlap with Dubai business hours and state the hours they can reliably contribute.
