Bark is an online services marketplace connecting customers with professionals across more than 1,000 categories and operating in nine countries.
The company is transitioning from a lead-generation model to a subscription-based marketplace platform.
Bark launched its marketplace model in Australia in Q4 2025 and is preparing UK and US rollouts in 2026.

Partner with product, design, data and mobile engineers to improve conversion, engagement and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Build APIs, services and frontend experiences using Python and React/TypeScript.
- Evolve consumer services and integrate them with billing, messaging and the professional-side product.
- Build integrations with communication platforms such as Twilio and GetStream.
- Deliver AI-powered features, including call and conversation summaries, from prototype to production.
- Measure product impact, run experiments and support market-by-market rollouts.
- Maintain reliability with tested code, observability and incident investigation.
- Improve the codebase, data model, architecture and team practices; mentor other engineers.
- Evaluate AI tools and frameworks, including AI-assisted development and code review, and help adopt them with guardrails.
Required skills and experience
- At least three years of production Python experience.
- At least three years of recent React experience.
- Experience building scalable, high-performing consumer-facing web applications.
- Production MySQL experience and strong SQL skills.
- Familiarity with NoSQL datastores and ideally experience migrating data between them.
- A balanced frontend and backend split is ideal, though a 30/70 split either way may be considered.
