Senior Full Stack Developer - Downdetector Connect

The opportunity

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable web applications using React, Redux, and modern backend frameworks.
• Write maintainable, efficient code and conduct high-signal code reviews.
• Translate emerging AI capabilities into high-performance features for global operator clients.
• Maintain and optimize backend services handling high-volume network telemetry and time-series data.
• Implement systems that learn and respond automatically to network outages.
• Collaborate on cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and complex deployments.

Job qualifications

• Five to eight years of professional software engineering experience, including mentoring or leadership experience.
• Expert Python proficiency with FastAPI or Django and experience designing scalable RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency in React and Redux with experience building complex, data-heavy web applications.
• Experience deploying applications on AWS, including Docker containerization and CI/CD pipeline management.
• Ability to break complex manual problems into deliverable, automated technical subtasks.

Preferred experience

• Familiarity with Kubernetes or Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Understanding of network monitoring, telecommunications data, or performance testing.
• Experience with anonymization techniques and PII protection under GDPR.
• Exposure to LangChain, LangGraph, or LlamaIndex.

About Ookla

Compensation

• The annual salary compensation range for this role is £50,000 to £80,000.
• Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, geographic location, education, training, role scope, and company performance.
