Qualifications

• A degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience
• AWS certification is highly desirable but not essential

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain production features in a React 18+ TypeScript application
• Own and improve our Vite-based development and build pipeline, including custom plugin configuration
• Design reusable, maintainable components and frontend architecture
• Build accessible, responsive user interfaces using Ant Design and custom SCSS
• Integrate frontend features with AWS Amplify and AppSync/GraphQL backends
• Work with GraphQL schemas and client-side data-fetching patterns to deliver reliable application features
• Implement and maintain internationalization (i18n) across the application
• Write and maintain high-quality unit and integration tests using Vitest, Testing Library, and MSW
• Identify and address frontend performance, usability, accessibility, and maintainability issues
• Contribute to and enforce engineering standards around linting, formatting, testing, and pre commit checks
• Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions, providing thoughtful technical feedback
• Help maintain frontend dependencies and contribute to security and vulnerability auditing
• Investigate and resolve production issues and technical debt
• Collaborate with designers, backend engineers, and product stakeholders to deliver polished, production-ready features
• Contribute to improvements in developer experience, shared tooling, and reusable components
• What we’re looking for...
• Demonstrable professional frontend development experience, with significant hands-on experience building production applications with React and TypeScript
• Demonstrated ability to own features from technical design through implementation, testing, review, and delivery
• Ability to work independently in an established codebase while respecting and improving existing conventions
• Strong architectural judgement and the ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs clearly
• A strong testing mindset — you write tests because they provide confidence and help the team move faster
• Strong attention to accessibility, maintainability, performance, and user experience
• A pragmatic approach to engineering: you know when to improve an abstraction, when to keep things simple, and when not to over-engineer
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, design, and product
• A genuine interest in improving both the product and the engineering practices used to build it
• Required Skills & Experience
• Strong hands-on experience with React, including hooks, component composition, state management patterns, and react-dom
• Solid TypeScript experience building and maintaining production applications
• Strong understanding of modern frontend architecture and application design
• Experience with Vite or a comparable modern frontend build tool, including configuration and plugins
• Familiarity with SVG asset handling and integrating frontend build tooling into a production workflow
• Experience building production-quality interfaces with Ant Design, Material UI, or a comparable component library
• Strong CSS and Sass/SCSS skills, including shared styles, mixins, variables, and build-tool integration
• Familiarity with PostCSS, Autoprefixer, and modern CSS build pipelines
• Experience building responsive interfaces across different screen sizes and devices
• Experience working with interactive UI components such as colour pickers, forms, data tables, and complex controls
• Strong understanding of web accessibility and accessible component design
• Strong experience with React Router or a comparable client-side routing solution
• Understanding of nested routes, route-based code organization, protected routes, and navigation patterns
• Experience structuring larger React applications for maintainability and scalability
• Experience integrating React applications with AWS services, particularly AWS Amplify
• Working knowledge of GraphQL and experience consuming schemas in frontend applications
• Experience working with AWS AppSync or a comparable GraphQL backend
• Understanding of authentication and API integration patterns
• Experience implementing and maintaining i18n in production web applications
• Familiarity with i18next, react-i18next, or comparable internationalization frameworks
• Understanding of language detection, translation management, interpolation, pluralization, and locale-aware UI behaviour
• Strong testing practices using Vitest, Jest, or an equivalent test runner
• Experience with Testing Library and user-focused component testing
• Experience mocking APIs and network requests using MSW or comparable tooling
• Familiarity with jsdom-based test environments
• A strong focus on writing reliable tests that provide meaningful confidence
• Experience configuring and maintaining ESLint, including TypeScript, React, React Hooks, and import-related rules
• Familiarity with dependency management, vulnerability auditing, and frontend security practices
• Understanding of CI-friendly development workflows and automated quality checks
