The Role
We are seeking a Senior Service Engineer specializing in Additive Manufacturing for a full-time, on-site role based in the UAE. This role suits an experienced, hands-on service professional who can independently own the full service lifecycle of industrial AM systems — installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair — while acting as the senior technical escalation point for complex machine issues and supporting customers across the UAE and the wider region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the installation, commissioning, calibration, and customer acceptance of industrial additive manufacturing systems (LPBF/DMLM, SLA, SLS, FGF/FDM) at client sites.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance programs across the installed base, and develop maintenance schedules, service procedures, and spare parts planning.
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, laser/optical, and process-related faults independently, serving as the senior escalation point for the service team.
- Coordinate directly with OEM technical support and engineering teams to resolve advanced issues, implement field upgrades, and stay current on machine platforms.
- Conduct site readiness assessments and guide customers through facility preparation, utilities, and safety requirements ahead of installation.
- Deliver operator and maintenance training to customer teams, and support them in achieving stable, repeatable production.
- Mentor and support junior service engineers, and contribute to building internal service capability, documentation, and standards.
- Manage service logistics, tools, and spare parts for on-site interventions, and document all work through structured service reports and CRM/service management systems.
- Communicate machine status, service findings, and recommendations clearly to customers, engineers, and management.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, or a related engineering field.
- 5+ years of hands-on field service experience with industrial 3D printers or comparable capital equipment, including at least 2 years with metal AM systems (LPBF/DMLM preferred).
- Proven track record of independently leading installations, commissioning, and major repairs at customer sites.
- Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical, electronic, and process domains; experience with laser systems, optics, inert gas handling, or powder management is a strong advantage.
- Working knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks or similar) and build preparation software (Materialise Magics or similar).
- Experience training customers and mentoring junior engineers is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with machining operations or CNC equipment is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, structured reporting discipline, and high attention to detail.
- Valid UAE driving license and willingness to travel frequently across the UAE and the GCC, including occasional OEM training abroad.
- English fluency required; Arabic is an advantage.
