Senior Fabric Administrator

Role overview

Platform operations

• Administer Fabric capacities, workspaces, domains, OneLake environments and related settings.
• Support Lakehouses, Warehouses, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Notebooks, Spark workloads and Power BI integrations.
• Monitor health, availability, performance and capacity using Fabric tools, APIs, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and dashboards.
• Resolve incidents and service interruptions, perform root-cause analysis and prevent recurrence.
• Manage capacity, concurrency, workload scheduling and resource use for performance and cost efficiency.

Security, governance and reliability

• Maintain workspace roles, Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities and secure data-sharing practices.
• Support governance, classification, lineage and compliance controls, including Microsoft Purview integration where applicable.
• Contribute to platform standards, workspace organization, environment management and procedures across development, test and production.
• Support resilience, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity for critical data workloads.
• Automate repeatable administrative and support activities using scripts, APIs and platform tools.

Collaboration and improvement

• Work with engineering, architecture, analytics, infrastructure and security teams to troubleshoot and support reliable delivery.
• Maintain documentation, operational runbooks and knowledge articles; share expertise and guide colleagues and users.
• Identify continuous improvements to platform reliability, governance, usability, performance and support processes.
• Track incidents, changes and improvement work using service-management and delivery tools in line with agreed processes.

Essential skills and experience

• Hands-on experience administering and supporting Microsoft Fabric in a data and analytics environment.
• Understanding of Fabric capacities, workspaces, OneLake and administration of Fabric workloads.
• Practical knowledge of Lakehouse and Warehouse concepts, pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, notebooks, Spark and Power BI integration.
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting performance, capacity, workloads and operational incidents.
• Understanding of Azure Storage, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Knowledge of identity and access management, RBAC, data security and governance principles.
• Experience with production operational support, change management, documentation and continuous improvement.
• Ability to identify root causes, communicate technical issues and solutions clearly, and collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders.

Desirable skills and experience

• Microsoft Purview, data classification, lineage and governance policies.
• Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks or other data integration and analytics services.
• Automation, scripting, Fabric Admin APIs, Azure DevOps, Git or CI/CD processes.
• Cloud data and analytics capacity and cost optimization; service-management practices and tools such as ITIL, ServiceNow, Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Experience with highly governed, regulated or business-critical data environments; relevant Azure or Fabric certifications; exposure to AI/ML workloads.
