Role overview

Lead engineering teams in Citi’s Risk & Capital Technology organization to deliver a regulatory reporting platform.

The platform supports Risk Officers and Finance Controllers managing exposure to financial institutions, governments, and corporates.

The role combines engineering direction and people leadership with strategic influence over team practices and AI-assisted development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple teams, including performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
  • Oversee technical development and application architecture and ensure designs follow appropriate patterns.
  • Assess emerging technologies, frameworks, and AI tools for credit risk products and development processes.
  • Own resource, budget, and planning decisions; monitor results.
  • Coach developers and analysts and improve engineering standards and processes.
  • Collaborate with global engineering, business analysis, DevOps, and support teams to deliver software.
  • Resolve complex issues, help define engineering standards, and align application development with organizational goals.
  • Influence senior stakeholders and communicate with external parties when needed.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years designing and developing robust, scalable, maintainable applications using object-oriented design principles.
  • At least five years managing multiple development teams.
  • Proven use of AI/ML tools and effective prompting for large-scale, high-performance software development.
  • Prior banking experience; Capital Markets and Credit Risk knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience architecting horizontally scalable, highly available, resilient, performant applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; master’s degree preferred.

Technical skills

  • Extensive hands-on Java Core and concurrent programming experience; Spring Core, Integration, Batch, JDBC, and Hibernate.
  • Familiarity with AI development tools such as Copilot and Devin, and with Agentic AI tools.
  • Relational databases, preferably Oracle; NoSQL databases, preferably MongoDB.
  • Linux and scripting; Git/BitBucket, CI/CD, Jenkins, SonarQube, JIRA, and secure coding toolkits.
