Purchase Engineer role managing end-to-end procurement, from purchase requisition conversion through purchase orders, delivery, part acceptance, and payment.
The focus is catalogue parts for pumps, supplier on-time delivery, quality, cost negotiation, and supplier management.
Responsibilities
- Convert purchase requisitions to purchase orders and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Source, develop, price, and supply pump catalogue parts, including motors, gearboxes, geared motors, safety valves, mechanical seals, control panels, filters, coolers, and instruments.
- Ensure supplier on-time delivery and quality ratings meet departmental objectives and maintain inventory availability.
- Monitor commodity and market trends for price corrections; identify alternative suppliers or processes to improve pricing and delivery.
- Manage transactions through part acceptance and payment.
- Engage suitable OEMs and dealers to secure pricing and delivery while ensuring customer specifications are understood and followed.
Qualifications and competencies
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering; FT is preferred.
- Six to eight years of manufacturing experience, preferably in OEM, project, or site procurement.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, costing, and catalogue part specifications.
- Experience handling OE suppliers and understanding supplier pricing strategy.
- Effective supplier communication and proficiency in MS Office or ERP tools.
- Project procurement experience is preferred.
