Role Description
The Senior Electrical Testing and Commissioning Engineer will lead and execute electrical testing, commissioning, and performance verification activities for power and desalination plant systems and equipment.
This is a contract, on-site role based in Ajman, requiring daily presence at project locations and coordination with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and vendors.
Responsibilities include preparing test plans and procedures, supervising field testing of electrical systems such as switchgear, transformers, protection relays, motors, and control panels, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and safety regulations.
The role involves troubleshooting electrical issues, analyzing test results, documenting findings, and preparing detailed commissioning reports.
The engineer will also guide junior engineers and technicians, support handover to operations teams, and contribute to continuous improvement of testing and commissioning methodologies.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in electrical testing and commissioning of power plant and desalination plant equipment, including switchgear, transformers, motors, and protection systems.
- Proficiency in electrical diagrams, control circuits, protection coordination, and applicable international standards (IEC, IEEE, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience in field troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolving equipment and system performance issues.
- Solid understanding of safety practices, risk assessment, and safe work procedures in high-voltage and industrial environments.
- Ability to lead project-based activities, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and manage testing schedules and documentation.
- Excellent technical communication skills for preparing reports, test records, and client-facing documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline; advanced certifications in testing, commissioning, or power systems are an advantage.
- Prior experience in GCC region power or desalination plants is highly beneficial, along with familiarity with ISO and OHSAS requirements
