To lead the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical works across infrastructure projects, ensuring all installations are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications, authority requirements, and quality standards.
The Senior Electrical Engineer provides technical leadership, manages subcontractors, and supports project delivery through effective planning, stakeholder coordination, and engineering expertise.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the execution of electrical infrastructure works, including street lighting, LV networks, duct banks, cable laying, substations, feeder pillars, electrical chambers, and utility diversions.
- Review and approve shop drawings, load schedules, single-line diagrams, voltage drop calculations, technical submittals, and material approvals.
- Manage electrical subcontractors, supervisors, and site teams to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved programme.
- Coordinate with consultants, utility authorities, and clients to obtain approvals, inspections, NOCs, energisation, and final handover.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and constraints, and implement corrective actions to maintain programme milestones.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, QA/QC requirements, inspection and testing procedures, and authority regulations.
- Support procurement by reviewing technical specifications, evaluating suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of electrical materials and equipment.
- Lead testing and commissioning activities, ensuring all systems are fully operational and compliant prior to handover.
- Prepare and review progress reports, technical documentation, RFIs, variation requests, and as-built documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and supervise technical teams, promoting continuous improvement and engineering best practice.
- Support commercial teams by providing technical input for variations, claims, and cost-saving initiatives
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10–15+ years of electrical engineering experience within infrastructure or civil construction projects.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior or lead electrical engineering role.
- Extensive experience with street lighting, underground cable networks, LV systems, utility diversions, substations, feeder pillars, and electrical infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of UAE authority requirements and approval processes (DEWA, ADDC, AADC, DMT, RTA, Etihad Water & Electricity, or other relevant authorities).
- Experience managing electrical subcontractors, testing and commissioning, and project handovers.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, HSE requirements, and construction methodologies.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and electrical engineering software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
