YOUR ROLE

  • As Senior Director, Data and Actuarial Technology, you will lead the strategy, modernization, delivery, and operational performance of technology capabilities supporting actuarial modeling, enterprise data, analytics, and data-driven decision-making. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, Insurance and Business Operations, your portfolio will span data platforms and products, architecture, engineering, integrations, business intelligence, actuarial applications, cloud capabilities, and production support, with accountability for the stability and controls required for critical actuarial and regulatory processes. As the primary technology partner for Actuarial, Data, and Insurance leaders, you will translate business priorities into executable roadmaps and ensure technology investments, platforms, and data assets deliver business value, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and long-term scalability. This role combines enterprise strategy with hands-on delivery, operational accountability, disciplined execution, strong partnership, and talent leadership. You will own portfolio performance, resilience, controls, modernization, financial management, and workforce strategy. What you will be doing • Define and execute a multi-year Data and Actuarial Technology strategy, target architecture, roadmap, and investment plan that advances cloud adoption, platform simplification, automation, technical debt reduction, and legacy retirement tied to measurable business outcomes. • Advance governed data products and platforms that strengthen quality, lineage, ownership, reusable domain assets, certified analytics, self-service capabilities, and AI readiness while reducing fragmented reporting and manual work. • Establish secure, resilient, scalable, and cost-effective architecture and operating standards, including strong governance, data quality, controls, compliance, incident management, disaster recovery, and production support. • Partner with Business Leaders and IT counterparts to align roadmaps, manage dependencies, and reinforce enterprise practices. • Own portfolio performance, budgets, workforce plans, vendors, contracts, technology risk, service health, demand, delivery, and value realization, using transparent measures to improve speed, quality, reliability, cost efficiency, and adoption. • Build and lead a diverse, high-performing organization through strong talent, workforce and succession planning, performance management, operational readiness, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across employees and strategic partners. • Communicate strategy, progress, risks, investment needs, operational performance, and measurable business value to executive, technology, and business stakeholders. • Champion innovation, accountability, continuous learning, and modern engineering, integration, delivery, AI, and automation practices that improve efficiency, stakeholder engagement, and associate experience while reflecting Genworth’s values: Make it human, Make it about others, Make it happen, Make it better. What you bring • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred. • 10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience across complex enterprise platforms, delivery, operations, and modernization. • Deep expertise in modern cloud data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake), data architecture, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), data engineering, integration, business intelligence and data visualization platforms (PowerBI, Tableau), analytics enablement, governance, security, resiliency, and operations, including service performance, controls, incident resolution, lifecycle management, and disaster recovery. • Proven success modernizing complex, mission-critical platforms and leading enterprise-scale data, analytics, actuarial, or related technology transformations, including system integrations and legacy modernization, while developing talent and building lasting leadership capability. • Demonstrated success defining and executing enterprise strategies, multiyear roadmaps, operating models, investment plans, and transformation initiatives while managing large portfolios, budgets, vendors, workforce plans, and cross-functional programs tied to measurable outcomes. • Experience leading actuarial technology capabilities or partnering closely with actuarial teams on modeling, valuation, forecasting, assumption management, and related data needs; insurance industry experience strongly preferred. • Experience in complex, regulated environments, preferably financial services or insurance, with knowledge of regulatory requirements, audits, control frameworks, data governance, and assurance programs. • Executive-level communication, collaboration, and influence skills, with the ability to lead through ambiguity, drive accountability across boundaries, and explain complex technology topics in business terms. • Ability to travel approximately 25%.
