Role Overview
Senior Developer working across Grimco's real, multi-platform technology stack.
The role contributes to business applications that support a long-established platform while helping modernize complex systems.
The position requires strong development fundamentals, adaptability across languages and environments, and sound technical judgment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Build and maintain business application features across a multi-platform technology stack.
- Design integrations between internal systems, external partners, APIs, and data pipelines.
- Use clean code, modular design, SQL-first data access, and structured testing practices.
- Provide technical input on complex projects and carry solutions through delivery.
- Modernize and improve existing systems while collaborating with IT, project management, QA, and business stakeholders.
- Learn, maintain, and expand RPG applications as part of the broader development role.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
- Ability to learn and work in unfamiliar languages, frameworks, or platforms.
- Strong SQL and relational database skills, including efficient queries and data modeling.
- Experience building integrations through APIs, file-based exchanges, ERP connectivity, or similar methods.
- Ability to understand and improve legacy code written by others.
- Clear communication skills for explaining technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Security awareness integrated into development practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, or order management systems.
- Experience with custom-built or mid-market ERP platforms.
- Exposure to EDI, X12 transaction sets, flat-file automation, or trading partner integrations.
- Cloud integration experience with REST/JSON APIs, Azure, AWS, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with IBM Power Systems or other enterprise backend platforms.
- RPG or IBM i development experience, or demonstrated interest in the platform.
