Senior Design Manager - Healthcare

The Role

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the multidisciplinary design delivery of healthcare, hospital, and medical facility projects from concept through construction.
• Oversee design coordination between architectural, structural, MEP, medical planning, and specialist consultants to ensure fully integrated project solutions.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare design standards, international codes, local authority regulations, and client requirements.
• Manage project design programs, deliverables, resources, and design budgets to achieve project objectives and deadlines.
• Coordinate closely with clients, operators, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders throughout all project phases.
• Review and monitor design documentation, technical submissions, specifications, shop drawings, and consultant deliverables.
• Liaise with relevant UAE authorities and healthcare regulatory bodies to secure approvals and address technical comments.
• Identify design risks, construction challenges, and coordination issues, proposing practical and efficient solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and support during construction stages, including responding to RFIs, reviewing material submissions, and resolving site-related design issues.
• Mentor and guide internal design teams, ensuring high standards of quality, coordination, and technical delivery.
• Ensure all healthcare planning and operational requirements are integrated into the design process, including patient flow, infection control, and medical equipment coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 13 years of experience in design management and project delivery.
• Proven experience delivering hospitals, healthcare facilities, medical centers, and large-scale institutional projects.
• Strong understanding of healthcare design standards, medical planning requirements, and international best practices.
• Previous experience working with a leading consultancy or main contractor on complex healthcare developments.
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams.
• Excellent project management, coordination, and stakeholder management capabilities.
