A Tier-1 bank in Abu Dhabi is recruiting an Executive Manager – Database Resilience within Group Business Services.
The role leads database resilience and disaster recovery strategy across primary and secondary core infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
- Own and deliver the technology resilience roadmap, including service dependencies, backup enhancements, and out-of-region recovery readiness.
- Design and maintain database recovery architectures and RPO/RTO to support critical banking application availability.
- Lead enterprise disaster recovery drills and failover testing; identify recovery gaps and report readiness to senior management.
- Maintain threat scenarios and embed CBUAE operational resilience requirements into recovery plans.
- Work with Enterprise Architecture, Operational Risk, Network/Infrastructure teams, and Oracle support vendors.
- Manage 3–5 engineers and DBAs, set performance objectives, and drive project delivery.
Essential requirements
- 8+ years in database resilience, disaster recovery, or technology business continuity within banking or financial institutions.
- Architectural and hands-on exposure to Oracle Exadata, including Active Data Guard, RAC, and Oracle MAA patterns.
- Experience managing technical teams with 3+ direct reports and running enterprise-wide disaster recovery programmes.
- Strong knowledge of CBUAE operational resilience frameworks or equivalent banking regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
Preferred qualifications
- MBCI or CBCP BCM certifications, or ITIL, are preferred.
