The role leads technical development of Fount, Burson's communications intelligence platform for data pipelines, monitoring subscriptions, Boolean searches, ingestion and AI enrichment.
This is a senior individual-contributor role with technical leadership and mentoring responsibility, not formal people management.
What you'll do
- Lead architecture and delivery of data pipelines, services and platform components across media monitoring and communications data sources.
- Partner with Product Owners in an Agile Jira team to translate product requirements into scalable solutions.
- Build Python services, SQL transformations, star-schema data models and API integrations across databases and Azure Data Lake.
- Optimize performance, reliability, compute efficiency and AI token costs; establish monitoring, logging, alerting and incident response.
- Improve Fount's analyst configuration layer, including Boolean searches, ingestion rules and NocoDB workflows.
- Operationalize AI enrichment for classification, summarization, sentiment and topic detection with governance and cost controls.
- Integrate internal, API-driven and third-party research datasets into scalable reporting workflows.
- Mentor junior engineers and refactor technical debt.
Role capabilities
- Translate product vision and technical specifications into robust, scalable data engineering and business intelligence solutions.
- Deliver production-ready Python services, SQL layers, data models and API integrations.
- Work with relational databases, cloud infrastructure and Azure Data Lake.
- Optimize system performance, reliability and cost, including AI token use.
- Deliver governed AI enrichment workflows with quality assurance and cost controls.
- Collaborate with Product Owners in an Agile Jira environment and provide technical guidance to engineers.
