Senior Data and Reporting Analyst

Role overview

The role

• Own business-critical MI, including legacy Excel/VBA reporting, and keep it running reliably in the short term.
• Modernize manual spreadsheet-based reporting into governed Power BI, Power Query, and Power Automate solutions.
• Support a data-platform programme introducing Databricks, Ataccama, and Timbr, focused on data validation and mapping.
• Build Power BI reports and data models, including star schemas and DAX, with documentation, lineage, and reconciliations.
• Work with stakeholders, challenge requirements where appropriate, and explain technical points clearly.
• Coach and upskill colleagues as a senior voice in the team; there is no current line management, with scope for it later.

What you’ll need

• Track record of owning MI/BI reporting end to end.
• Advanced Excel skills; VBA or macro experience is a plus.
• Strong Power BI skills, including data modelling, DAX, workspaces, and refresh, plus Power Query.
• Working SQL knowledge.
• Experience migrating manual reporting to automated, governed solutions.
• Confident stakeholder management.

Nice to have

• Insurance or financial services data experience, including claims, policy, or customer data.
• Power Automate, Databricks, or data quality/catalogue tools.
• Agile ways of working.
• Practical use of AI tools in reporting.
