Role overview
Senior Business Systems Analyst role in Richmond, Virginia, with a hybrid schedule of four onsite days and one remote day per week.
The position is a contract role; interviews are in person.
Role responsibilities
- Conduct project initiation activities to identify application problems, objectives, and requirements-definition issues.
- Elicit and document requirements for new applications and enhancements, working with business and Information Systems staff.
- Produce clear, complete, SDLC-compliant requirements documents within established timeframes and agency standards.
- Help develop standardized processes and reusable documentation templates as directed by project leadership.
- Represent business needs in application design and development Scrum meetings.
- Write and execute system test plans, manually test web applications, and verify requirements and design specifications.
- Document bugs with enough detail for developers to reproduce and correct them.
- Assist in creating user testing scripts for User Acceptance Testing.
Required qualifications
- Extensive experience in business and systems analysis, requirements documentation, SDLC, and agile application development such as Scrum; the skills table specifies 8 years.
- Extensive experience eliciting and documenting user requirements from multiple sources and preparing complex documentation for business users and developers; the skills table specifies 8 years.
- Extensive experience supporting application development, maintenance, and implementation; systems analysis and design; and business process improvement; the skills table specifies 8 years.
- Extensive experience documenting business processes and mapping or developing processes in a new system; the skills table specifies 8 years.
- Experience manually testing web applications and considerable experience testing complex systems to determine whether business needs are met.
- Ability to write and execute test plans and scripts to identified standards, and identify and document application bugs or insufficiencies.
- Experience conducting meetings and documenting project decisions; the skills table specifies 8 years.
- Ability to contribute to a development team and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with web application development projects using .NET is preferred.
- Familiarity with documenting requirements in Microsoft Team Foundation Server is preferred.
