About This Role

Job Purpose

The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for driving the company’s commercial growth by identifying, securing, and managing strategic business opportunities within the mining, drilling, and exploration sectors. The role plays a key part in expanding Golden Compass’s market presence, developing strong client relationships, and contributing to sustainable revenue growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategic Growth

• Identify and lead high-value business opportunities in mining, drilling, and exploration sectors

• Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with company objectives

• Lead market expansion initiatives across Saudi Arabia and international markets

• Evaluate opportunities using structured Bid/No-Bid decision frameworks

Client Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, government entities, and stakeholders

• Act as the primary focal point for strategic accounts

• Lead client meetings, presentations, and commercial negotiations

• Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and long-term partnerships

Tenders, Proposals & Commercial Offers

• Lead the full lifecycle of tenders and proposals (Pre-qualification, submission, follow-up)

• Develop competitive pricing strategies and commercial proposals

• Conduct margin analysis and financial evaluations

• Coordinate with technical, finance, HSE, and operations teams

• Ensure compliance with tender requirements and deadlines

Partnerships & Joint Ventures

• Identify and establish strategic partnerships and joint ventures

• Participate in consortium bidding for large-scale mining projects

• Support expansion into new markets through alliances

Market Intelligence & Strategic Research

• Monitor industry trends, competitors, and tender pipelines

• Track developments in the Saudi mining sector and regulatory environment

• Prepare market intelligence reports and strategic insights for management

• Represent the company in conferences, exhibitions, and industry events

Commercial Governance & Project Handover

• Ensure compliance with internal policies and authority matrix

• Support contract review in coordination with legal and finance

• Lead handover process to operations after project award

• Maintain alignment between commercial commitments and operational delivery

Reporting & Performance Management

• Manage pipeline using CRM and ERP systems (Odoo)

• Prepare periodic reports on performance, pipeline, and revenue

• Provide data-driven insights to support business decisions

• Track and improve conversion rates and commercial performance

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Mining Engineering, or related field

• MBA or postgraduate qualification is preferred

• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in Business Development within mining, drilling, or exploration sectors

• Proven track record in securing contracts and managing key client relationships

• Strong knowledge of the Saudi market and government procurement processes

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

• Advanced proficiency in CRM systems and pipeline management

• Strong financial and commercial acumen (pricing, margin analysis)

• Expertise in proposal development and tender management

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

• Knowledge of ERP systems (Odoo preferred)

Preferred Skills

• Understanding of drilling methods (RC, Diamond, Exploration)

• Experience with bid-costing tools

• Project management certification (PMP or equivalent)

• Data analysis tools (Power BI or similar)

Language Requirements

• English: Professional proficiency (mandatory)

• Arabic: Preferred

Working Conditions

• Office-based in Jeddah with frequent travel to project sites

• Regular travel across Saudi Arabia and internationally

• Participation in site visits requiring safety compliance (PPE, inductions)

• Flexible working hours based on business needs and tender deadlines

Governance & Compliance

• Adherence to company policies and Code of Conduct

• Compliance with anti-bribery and ethical business practices

• Maintain confidentiality of client, pricing, and commercial data

• Follow company Delegation of Authority (DOA)
