Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior Business Development Engineer based in Ras Laffan.

***Responsible for driving business growth within Qatar’s Oil, Gas & LNG, Petrochemical, and other Industrial sectors for the AMPIS division.

The role focuses on proactive business development, client engagement, and techno-commercial support across tendering and contract phases, requiring strong knowledge of Qatar Energy standards, EPC processes, and project-based sales cycles.***

A key aspect of this role includes driving business development activities related to AMPIS’s representation of Yokohama Rubber Co. (Marine Hoses Division), ensuring effective coordination, promotion, and conversion of high-value RFQs and tenders originating from this principal

.

1. Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Identify, develop and pursue new business opportunities within:
  • Energy Sector (Oil & Gas, LNG, Petrochemical)
  • International Oil & Gas companies operating in Qatar
  • Qatar-based EPIC contractors
  • Industrial and infrastructure sectors
  • Ministries and government entities
  • Develop and implement business development plans aligned with AMPIS revenue and Gross Profit targets.
  • Promote AMPIS represented principals and product lines through client meetings, presentations, and technical engagement.
  • Maintain a strong opportunity pipeline and provide periodic forecasts to management.

2. Qatar Market Intelligence & Client Engagement

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with:
  • Major energy operators and subsidiaries
  • International operators and service companies
  • EPC contractors and subcontractors
  • Industrial clients and public sector entities
  • Leverage market intelligence to position AMPIS early in project cycles and vendor approval stages.
  • Track market trends, competitor activities, and procurement strategies.

3. Commercial & Tender Coordination

· Monitor and evaluate relevant tender opportunities aligned with AMPIS scope.

· Coordinate internally for the preparation of competitive and compliant bids.

· Support tender submissions, technical clarifications, commercial negotiations, and contract finalization.

· Ensure all proposals meet approved Gross Profit targets and margin requirements.

4. Principal & OEM Coordination

· Act as the commercial focal point between AMPIS and international principals, with particular focus on Yokohama Rubber Co.

· Manage and coordinate all RFQs, tenders, and technical/commercial discussions related to Yokohama marine hose systems, ensuring timely response and alignment for high-value and strategic opportunities.

· Coordinate technical and commercial inputs for proposal development.

· Identify and onboard new principals aligned with market demand.

5. Market Intelligence, Governance & Reporting

  • Submit periodic reports on:
  • Opportunity pipeline
  • Gross Profit forecast
  • Client engagement status
  • Market observations and competitive analysis
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, governance standards, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the AMPIS Manager, BDM, MD / FD within the scope of the role.

6. Authority & Accountability

  • Authorized to represent AMPIS in client meetings and commercial discussions (as delegated).
  • Accountable for:
  • Development and management of opportunity pipeline
  • Strength and continuity of client relationships
  • Achievement of revenue and Gross Profit targets
  • Compliance with approved margin requirements.
  • Effective management and conversion of all Yokohama-related Tenders/RFQs and strategic opportunities.
  • Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all commercial and client-related information.

7. Training & Development

Attend relevant training programs, seminars, and industry events to enhance technical and commercial competencies in line with AMPIS business activities.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Instrumentation or Process Engineering field.

Professional Experiences

  • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in Business Development/Sales within Qatar Oil & Gas,LNG,Petrochemical,Marine & other Industrial sectors in Qatar.
  • Strong knowledge of QatarEnergy, QatarEnergy LNG,EPC Contractors, procurement channels and Oil & Gas ,LNG industry dynamics.
  • Experience dealing with major EPC contractors operating in Qatar.
  • Strong knowledge of Oil & Gas, marine, and industrial equipment and systems, including piping, valves, pumps, compressors, instrumentation, process equipment, marine hoses, offshore loading systems, fluid transfer solutions, and associated engineering products.
  • Experience in marine hose systems, offshore offloading systems and working with international OEM's such as Yokohama Rubber Co. is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales target in Qatar.
  • Proven experience in Energy sector marketing and client engagement
  • Established professional network within Major energy operators, international oil and gas companies, EPC contractors, Industrial & governmental entities.

Skills

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Office Productivity Tools and Digital Business Technology Platforms.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Results-driven with a proven business development mindset

Licenses And Certifications

  • Valid Qatar Driving License.
