A rare opportunity has arisen for a highly commercial

Senior Broker / Sales Trader

  • with deep fuel oil market experience to join a specialist energy trading business in Dubai.
  • This is a genuine growth role for someone who has already built trust in the market, developed their own relationships, and wants the autonomy to take a fuel oil franchise to the next level.
  • The right person will bring a portable network, strong technical market knowledge, and a proven ability to win new business from scratch.
  • The opportunity
  • This role sits at the centre of the global bunkering and refined products market, giving you the platform to originate, develop, and convert business across the full fuel oil complex.
  • You will be supported by a credible desk, but you will be expected to operate with real ownership, commercial drive, and the confidence to build momentum quickly.
  • Key responsibilitie
  • Originate and develop new business across the fuel oil ecosystem, including bunker suppliers, shipping companies, trading houses, refineries, hedge funds, utilities, and power producers
  • Build and manage a pipeline from scratch through your own network, targeted outreach, and trusted market relationships
  • Cover the full fuel oil derivatives space, including HSFO, VLSFO, LSFO, cracks, spreads, barges, cargo differentials, and related OTC structures
  • Execute futures and OTC transactions, including Platts and ICE-based instruments, balmo structures, and bespoke hedging solutions
  • Generate market colour and position the desk as a credible specialist voice in fuel oil
  • Work closely with the trading team to drive flow, refine strategy, and expand market presence
  • Attend industry events and maintain strong client contact, including outside standard working hours where required
  • What we are looking fo
  • 4+ years of experience in fuel oil broking, sales trading, or a closely related refined products role
  • A

  • k within the bunker, shipping, refining, or trading house space
  • A proven track record of winning new business and building client relationships from the ground up
  • Solid understanding of physical and paper fuel oil markets, including IMO sulphur dynamics, refinery configuration, and key pricing benchmarks such as Platts and ICE
  • A self-starter mentality, comfortable operating without an inherited book and motivated by building one
  • Strong communication skills and credibility with sophisticated counterparties across the oil supply chain
  • A second language is an advantage, particularly Arabic, Greek, Mandarin, or Norwegian
