Role overview

Responsibilities

• Own the reporting environment’s data and help business users understand available data and capabilities.
• Meet with business subject matter experts to learn their processes and understand how data supports their work.
• Design Power BI visualizations, reports, and dashboards that communicate insights and enable actionable analytics.
• Gather requirements; design data models; develop and test reports and dashboards for user experience and data accuracy.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in Power BI datasets and models.
• Partner with Data Engineers to use available data as a foundation for reporting and models.
• Maintain Power BI semantic models and Databricks-sourced datasets, including relationships, DAX measures, and calculation groups.
• Document designs, requirements, and user guidance; facilitate senior IT and business teams through data issues.
• Prioritize work, escalate roadblocks, and collaborate across business and technical stakeholders.

Experience and qualifications

• At least 3 years designing and developing BI reports and data models in Power BI or equivalent tools, and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of data, BI and analytics, reporting platforms, and data visualization techniques and tools.
• Experience in manufacturing or distribution with knowledge of key KPIs and business processes.
• At least 2 years working in a medium to large organization.
• A related bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and experience is preferred.
• Flexible hours may be needed based on business priorities; limited travel may be required.

Preferred technical experience

• Experience with Databricks or similar cloud data platforms is preferred.
• Experience with Power BI data modeling and BI architecture, including star schema design, DAX, and Power Query, is preferred.
• Experience with modern data and BI architectures is preferred.
