Context And Environment

  • North Oil Company (NOC) Digital Business Solutions (DBS) supports various office locations as well as onshore and offshore installations.
  • The Al Shaheen Oil Field (ALS) involves complex software solutions and control systems that require high availability and reliability to ensure business continuity
  • Al Shaheen is a highly complex oil field that heavily relies on customized, real-time, mission-critical petroleum applications. The company is undergoing a digital transformation, with increasing reliance on digital tools across its operations.

Accountabilities

Establish and maintain professional business relationships with the designated Subsurface business lines (Drilling and Wells, Reservoir and Geosciences), bridging the gap between business and Digital Business Solutions departments.

Provide technical expert support for software solutions portfolio of the designated Subsurface business lines while ensuring optimal performance, service availability and security levels.

Identify business needs of the Subsurface business lines and lead implementation of new solutions and improvements for existing tools.

Activities

  • Serve as the primary business contact for a set of application services of Subsurface business lines, independently managing and maintaining specific applications and systems to ensure optimal service levels by minimizing unplanned downtime.
  • Provide expert support for software solutions used by Subsurface business lines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, and network-related issues within designated solutions.
  • Liaise with software vendors, other business units, and internal Digital Business Solutions teams to support and update designated software solutions.
  • Ensure seamless integration between Subsurface solutions and other systems (e.g., digital data platforms, reporting tools, and business solutions from other departments).
  • Lead and coordinate the deployment of new solutions or technological updates for Subsurface business lines, aligning with business needs, company standards, business processes, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Digital Business Solutions, business stakeholders, and vendor teams to define and implement effective architectural designs for new and existing solutions.
  • Support the testing and rollout of software upgrades and patches.
  • Ensure that designated software solutions comply with company policies and industry standards.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date documentation for all managed software solutions.
  • Manage contracts and license agreements for software solutions used by Subsurface business lines.
  • Monitor and report on service availability, license and resource utilization, and the value delivered by managed software solutions.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Petroleum Engineering or related field.

Experience

  • 7-10 years in an oil industry working on Subsurface-related software solutions.
  • Strong knowledge on IT domains (network, systems, applications and databases).
  • 7-10 years experience in implementation and maintenance of Petroleum Solutions.
  • 7-10 years experience as part of an Oil & Gas organization.
  • Strong leadership and project management capabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask and support changes.
  • Fluent in English both spoken & written.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills.
