Role Overview

We're looking for software developers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day.
As a software developer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products.
We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google.
These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer.
We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems.
As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience with Android application development.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with large-scale application design and architecture.
- Development experience working with Kotlin or Java.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Dagger or Hilt.
- Experience with build systems and toolchains (Bazel/Blaze, Gradle, KSP, or annotation processing).
- Experience building developer tools that improve developer velocity, code quality and code health (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).
- Interest in AI-assisted and agentic developer tooling.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Android developer infrastructure, including build tooling, frameworks, and libraries used across Google's first-party mobile applications.
- Partner with product teams cross functionally to identify developer productivity bottlenecks and deliver solutions.
- Participate in and lead design reviews, review code from other developers, and contribute to documentation and educational content.
- Triage and resolve product and system issues by analyzing their sources and their impact on service operations and quality.
