Senior Android Developer (Remote)

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin and modern frameworks.
• Implement modular, maintainable architectures using Android Jetpack and established design patterns.
• Build responsive and accessible interfaces across Android devices.
• Integrate Android platform features, SDKs, backend APIs and device services securely and efficiently.
• Profile and optimize performance, memory use and responsiveness.
• Collaborate across teams to turn product requirements into mobile features.
• Conduct code reviews and improve engineering standards and processes.
• Troubleshoot production issues to improve stability, reliability and user satisfaction.

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of native Android application design and development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin, Android SDK, Android Studio and modern Android practices.
• Experience with MVVM, Clean Architecture and Android Jetpack.
• Experience designing scalable navigation, data flow, state management and reusable components.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, backend integration, data handling, error management and secure mobile development.
• Experience optimizing performance, memory and responsiveness across devices and OS versions.
• Ability to debug, investigate root causes and resolve complex production issues.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in Agile, cross-functional teams.

Helpful experience

• Automotive experience with connected vehicles, infotainment or mobility solutions.
• Knowledge of constraint management and industry-specific mobile solution design.
• Experience with new product development and evaluating emerging Android technologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, mobile DevOps, technical documentation or knowledge sharing.
• Exposure to accessibility standards, mobile security and Google Play Store deployment.

Work model

• Remote position open to qualified applicants in Canada.

Compensation

• Base salary ranges from $60,300 to $95,000 per year.
• Eligible for a discretionary annual performance-based bonus and benefits.
