Senior Accountant

Purpose of the role

Accounting and reporting responsibilities

• Develop financial statements, chart of accounts, financial position forecasts, and other accurate, timely management reports.
• Support other functions on accounting and closing policies, procedures, controls, and efficient use of financial resources.
• Assist monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes, providing support and training to functions.
• Address audit and General Court of Audit non-compliance cases and implement corrective measures to reduce risks and recurrence.
• Monitor transaction recordings, journal entries, and ledger postings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
• Review bank reconciliations for all accounts and ensure they match.
• Execute daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly closes; coordinate discrepancy resolution and report non-compliant cases.
• Review periodic financial reports for compliance with financial reporting standards.

General duties

• Follow relevant policies, processes, and standard operating procedures.
• Help solve escalated problems and support junior team members; escalate complex issues to the relevant person.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent is required.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.

• Information systems knowledge, collaboration and communication, professionalism, accounting standards and practices, results orientation, customer focus, change and innovation, risk assessment and management, and financial planning and analysis are rated developing.
• Asset management and financial reporting and control are rated proficient.
