Senior Accountant – Construction Industry

Role overview

Accounting and reporting

• Manage accounting and bookkeeping, maintain general ledger records, and handle monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing.
• Prepare profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and management reports.
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts; perform bank, supplier, subcontractor, customer, ledger, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Keep supporting documentation for financial transactions.

UAE tax and compliance

• Prepare and file UAE VAT returns on time, reconcile VAT, check tax invoices, and maintain supporting records.
• Prepare UAE Corporate Tax calculations and schedules and assist with or manage return preparation and filing.
• Maintain records for FTA and Corporate Tax compliance and keep up to date with relevant UAE requirements.

Project accounting and billing

• Manage project-wise accounting and cost tracking against approved budgets and BOQs; report project costs and project-wise profit and loss.
• Track material, labour, subcontractor, equipment, and other project costs; monitor committed costs, actual costs, and liabilities.
• Identify cost variances, prepare cost-control reports, maintain purchase order records, and reconcile supplier and subcontractor accounts.
• Prepare client, progress, and milestone invoices; monitor receivables and ageing, follow up overdue payments, and resolve discrepancies.

Payables and financial control

• Review supplier and subcontractor invoices against purchase orders, approvals, supporting documents, and payment terms; maintain payment schedules.
• Prepare cash flow reports and projections, monitor liquidity and obligations, and support management with forecasts and financial analysis.
• Maintain controls over operational and project expenditure.

Candidate requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, CA, ACCA, CMA, or a related field.
• At least 3–4 years of relevant accounting experience; UAE experience is strongly preferred.
• UAE construction or contracting company experience is highly preferred.
• Strong accounting-cycle, general-ledger, balance-sheet, reconciliation, financial reporting, UAE VAT, and Corporate Tax knowledge.
• Construction project accounting, costing, budgeting, cost control, project-wise reporting, billing, supplier and subcontractor accounting experience or knowledge.
• Experience with Zoho Books, Tally, QuickBooks, Odoo, or other ERP/accounting systems; advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills; able to work independently, accurately, and to multiple deadlines.

Salary

• Salary starts at AED 5,000 per month and is negotiable based on experience and capability.
