Segment Lead

Your Responsibilities

• Help guide coverage strategy across core computing verticals, including operating systems (Windows, Linux, Android), consumer hardware/devices, and enthusiast DIY tech (single-board computers, microcontrollers, 3D printing).
• Manage the editorial pipeline end-to-end: pitch review, topic prioritization, assignment, and publication.
• Lead and support a team of freelance writers, providing consistent editorial feedback, technical guidance, and onboarding support.
• Review and approve pitches, assign topics, manage deadlines, and perform copy edits to keep daily production on track.
• Contribute original written content (buyer’s guides, tutorials, and hands-on reviews) within your core coverage areas when needed.
• Work with editorial leadership to maintain a balanced editorial calendar aligned with audience interests, search trends, and brand goals.
• Monitor content performance analytics and apply insights to optimize editorial strategy.
• Follow XDA’s general Editorial Guidelines while producing unique and authoritative high-quality content.

Experience and Skills

• Relevant experience editing and writing consumer technology content in the English language for digital publications.
• Deep hands-on technical knowledge across desktop builds, mobile/handheld devices, operating systems, and enthusiast maker hardware (SBCs, 3D printing, microcontrollers).
• Proven track record leading, mentoring, or managing freelance writers in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong editorial judgment, organization, and proficiency with SEO best practices and custom CMS workflows.
• Confident owning editorial decisions, pitching reader-obsessed angles, and balancing multiple priorities remotely.
