Hamsons Foodstuff Trading is a Dubai-based food trading company with a growing international footprint, including an established and expanding presence across the United States, Canada and the UK. In the US & Canada we work closely with a network of regional distributors and retail partners to bring our product portfolio to consumers across North America. As we continue to scale our US operations, we are seeking a driven, commercially-minded Sales Representative to own and grow our North American account relationships.

ROLE OVERVIEW

This is a hybrid, internationally-focused sales role based at our headquarters in Dubai. The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for all US and Canadian distributor and retail accounts, working to strengthen existing partnerships, drive volume growth, and execute commercial initiatives across key markets. The role requires regular travel to North America — approximately 3 to 4 trips per year, with each visit lasting approximately one month — during which the representative will conduct in-market account management, distributor engagement, and on-the-ground sales activations. Between travel periods, the representative will work from Dubai, collaborating closely with our internal data analytics, marketing, and finance teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Account Management & Distributor Relations

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for all US and Canadian distributor accounts
  • Conduct regular in-person visits to distributors, their sales teams, and retail partners across each respective state and territory
  • Align distributor sales teams with Hamsons' commercial objectives and product priorities
  • Monitor distributor performance against agreed targets and drive accountability at every level of the supply chain

In-Market Sales Activation

  • Ensure product availability, correct placement, and visibility at the store level across all key accounts
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to grow shelf presence and distribution across new retail locations
  • Coordinate in-store promotional activities, samplings, and trade-facing initiatives in alignment with the marketing team
  • Track and report on sales performance at both the distributor and store level during each market visit

Sales Growth & Target Achievement

  • Deliver against monthly, quarterly, and annual volume and revenue targets set in collaboration with the data analytics team
  • Proactively identify SKUs underperforming against historical benchmarks and develop corrective action plans with distributors
  • Drive consistent month-over-month and quarter-over-quarter sales growth across the portfolio
  • Explore and present opportunities to introduce new SKUs and product categories suited to the North American market

Internal Collaboration (Dubai HQ)

  • Work closely with the data analytics team to review performance dashboards, interpret market trends, and set realistic growth objectives
  • Liaise with the accounts/finance team to ensure orders, payments, and distributor records are accurate and up to date
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure US and Canadian campaigns — including digital, trade, and in-store initiatives — are being executed effectively and delivering ROI
  • Provide post-trip reporting and insights to senior management following each market visit
  • Contribute to long-term product and market expansion planning, including the identification of new distribution channels and retail partnerships.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This role involves significant international travel. The representative is expected to travel to the United States and Canada 3 to 4 times per year, with each trip lasting approximately one month. During these periods, the representative will cover multiple states, visiting distributors, their field sales teams, and retail accounts across assigned territories. All travel, accommodation, and business expenses will be covered by the company per the applicable travel policy.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Travel Authorization (Mandatory)

Due to the nature of this role, the ability to travel freely and frequently to the United States is a non-negotiable requirement. Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Holder of a US, UK, European (EU/EEA), or Australian passport eligible for visa-free or expedited entry into the United States
  • Holder of a valid, multi-entry US visa (B1/B2 or equivalent) with a minimum validity of 5 years from the date of joining
  • Documented ability to obtain a US visa with minimal difficulty, evidenced by prior US travel history
  • Note:

Candidates whose nationality or passport may pose a material risk or documented difficulty in obtaining US entry authorization will not be considered for this position.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive sales experience, with a demonstrable track record of achieving and exceeding targets
  • Prior experience managing international accounts or working within a globally-oriented sales function
  • Experience working with FMCG, food & beverage, or consumer goods categories is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with the US and/or Canadian retail and wholesale distribution landscape is a strong advantage
  • Experience coordinating with distributor sales teams across multiple regions or territories

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyze sales data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills; comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels from store managers to senior distributor leadership
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple accounts, priorities, and reporting requirements simultaneously
  • Proficient in CRM platforms, sales reporting tools, and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with a results-driven approach
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are an asset
