Position summary

The Sales & Logistics Manager leads commercial execution, customer fulfillment, and inbound and outbound logistics for an aluminum beverage can and lid manufacturing facility.

The role connects beverage brands and contract packers with production planning, warehouse operations, and third-party freight networks.

Commercial and logistics operations

  • Manage customer relationships, fulfillment, lead-time negotiations, volume commitments, allocations, pricing strategies, invoicing, credit compliance, and disputes.
  • Direct outbound distribution of cans and ends, manage carriers and freight providers, and optimize freight utilization and transit damage prevention.
  • Oversee returnable dunnage loops, finished-goods warehousing, target safety stocks, and inventory turns.

Planning and production interface

  • Lead the monthly plant-level S&OP cadence by balancing customer demand, production capacity, and aluminum coil supply.
  • Coordinate production scheduling, can-line size changeovers, and end and tab conversion press schedules.

Quality, compliance, and claims

  • Resolve technical customer complaints, transit damage, container integrity issues, formal claims, and credits with Plant Quality and Technical Service Engineering.
  • Ensure shipping documentation, bills of lading, carrier insurance certifications, and DOT and OSHA requirements are met.

Leadership and financial management

  • Supervise and mentor Logistics Coordinators, Shipping and Receiving Supervisors, and Key Account Managers.
  • Manage plant logistics and warehousing budgets and use Lean and Six Sigma improvements to reduce delivered cost.

Required qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, industrial engineering, or a related field is required.
  • At least six years of relevant experience in sales operations, logistics, or supply chain management within specified manufacturing environments is required.
  • At least two to three years of direct leadership or supervisory experience is required.
  • Hands-on ERP and transportation management system experience is required; SAP is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with beverage packaging supply chains, returnable packaging tracking, and continuous operational support is required.

Preferred qualifications

  • APICS or ASCM certification, aluminum coil delivery network experience, cross-dock warehousing, 3PL portals, EDI, and packaging or beverage industry experience are preferred.

Schedule and conditions

  • The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but hours may vary with plant operational needs.
  • The role requires flexibility for long days, occasional evenings and weekends, continuous shift rotation, and on-call emergencies.
  • Minimal travel for business meetings or training may be required, and regular predictable attendance is essential.

Work environment

  • The role operates across warehouse, manufacturing, engineering laboratory, production, office, and outdoor areas.
  • Physical activities may include standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, and occasionally lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing up to 50 pounds.
