Overview
Specialized reliability professional responsible for managing and applying lubricants to critical rotating and reciprocating machinery.
Focuses on preventing equipment failure, reducing friction and wear, and maximizing the lifespan of multi-million-dollar assets like compressors, pumps, and turbines.
Core Responsibilities Execute preventive and corrective lubrication tasks (oil changes, regreasing bearings, top-ups) according to manufacturer specifications and site maintenance schedules.
Maintain the integrity of lubricants from "cradle to grave." This involves filtering stored oils, managing desiccant breathers, using filter carts, and keeping lube rooms immaculate.
Regularly collect representative oil samples from equipment, conduct basic on-site tests (e.g., viscosity checks, water/sediment detection, ferrography), and prepare samples for full laboratory analysis.
Inspect machinery for leaks, vibration changes, temperature spikes, or abnormal operating noises.
Track usage, monitor stock levels of lubricants and greases, and report necessary reordering of products.
Log all lubrication activities, update maintenance work orders, and utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Strictly adhere to strict Oil and Gas safety protocols (e.g., H2S awareness, offshore regulations, LOTO - Lockout/Tagout) and environmental spill regulations.
