Roads Policing - Special Constable

• Essential Requirements
• Independent Patrol Status
• Minimum of 12 months service, but ideally 3+ years.
• Licence, or be on track to have their driving licence within 6 months of starting

• Selection Process
• Discovery Sessions - There will be 2 opportunities to join a discovery session via teams. This will be available whilst the role is live. The first will be Thursday the 1st of October and the second will be Monday the 19th of October. Both sessions will be at 7pm. Teams invites will be sent out to yourself.
• Online Application and Sift - You will complete an online application form, which will be reviewed against the skills, experience and behaviours required for the role. Closing Date: 25/10/2026
• Road Policing Attachment - Minimum of 2 attachments with RPU SCs to better understand the role and requirements followed by a minimum of 2 attachments with RPU regular shift to experience a wider range of jobs, speeds driven, and experience needed.
• Role Play Scenario assessment - To assess your competency when dealing with members of the public, assess their decision making, and use of NDM. Proposed date(s):
• Interview - Candidates who successfully pass the Role Play Scenario assessment will be invited to attend a interview. Proposed date(s): 21 / 22/11/2026
• Pre-Employment Check s - If you are selected as the preferred candidate, you will be required to successfully complete relevant pre-employment checks before receiving a formal offer. For internal candidates, some checks may not be required. Checks may include:
• Medical Checks - Appointment to this role is subject to successfully completing medical checks. This may include a drugs test and, where required, a fitness assessment.
• Vetting - Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
