Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site RO Plants Design & Process Engineer role based in Abu Dhabi.
The engineer will be responsible for designing and optimizing RO plant process schemes, preparing PFDs and P&IDs, sizing equipment, and specifying instrumentation and control elements.
Daily tasks include performing process calculations, evaluating feed water quality, defining pretreatment and post-treatment requirements, and ensuring designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, civil) to integrate process designs, supporting cost estimates, and preparing technical proposals and design reports.
The engineer will also participate in HAZOP and design reviews, support commissioning and performance testing, troubleshoot process issues in existing plants, and implement improvements for reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering, with experience in water or wastewater treatment, preferably RO or desalination systems.
- Proficiency in Process Design, including development of process flow diagrams, mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, and process simulations.
- Experience in Process Control, including selection and specification of control strategies, instrumentation, and integration with automation systems.
- Well-developed Analytical Skills for evaluating process performance data, diagnosing operational issues, and proposing practical, data-driven solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Familiarity with relevant international codes, standards, and best practices for water treatment and RO plant design.
- Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, prepare clear technical documentation, and engage with clients and suppliers in a professional manner.
- Experience with process simulation and design software (e.g., Aspen, ROSA, or similar) and strong MS Office skills.
- Previous experience in EPC, design consultancy, or industrial water treatment projects in the Middle East is an advantage.
