Role Overview
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department independently plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care in patient care situations using standards of care, policy and procedure.
Provides direct nursing care to patients, assumes teaching and leadership responsibilities.
Participates in shared decision making, unit committee and quality improvement activities.
Needs minimal supervision.
Primary role of RN is the care for all types and age groups of emergency and minor care patients.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidates with Emergency Department Experience that will not be entering fellowship program.
- · Minimum of 1 year of experience as RN in acute care required. At least one year of Emergency or one year of pediatric ICU acute experience required.
- · Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
- · Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- · Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- · Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- · ENPC desirable.
- · TNCC desirable.
- Candidates WITHOUT Emergency Department experience and New Graduates RN will complete Emergency Department fellowship program New graduate nurses will be considered for program.
- · Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification will be obtained during program.
- ·BSN preferred.
- · Required to sign a Fellowship agreement which includes a 2-year employment commitment to remain in Emergency Department in a full-time position after completion of training.
- · Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
