Full-time Risk Officer responsible for protecting the business from emerging risks through a robust risk framework, risk assessments, incident management, and regulatory controls.
The role requires regular work from ADGM and operates independently from business and revenue-generating functions in risk oversight.
Risk framework and advisory
- Design and enhance the enterprise risk framework and conduct comprehensive risk assessments.
- Advise the executive team and board on risk; identify, mitigate, and manage operational risks.
- Work with technology teams on cybersecurity risks and policies.
- Manage credit, market, and liquidity risks and oversee stress testing; monitor reputational risks and develop crisis strategies.
- Establish risk analytics and reporting frameworks and provide regular reports; foster risk awareness and design training.
Incident management
- Act as incident manager when no dedicated manager is appointed; identify, log, triage, and escalate risk, compliance, and operational incidents promptly.
- Coordinate response with Technology, Operations, Legal, senior management, and external parties where applicable.
- Assess regulatory notification obligations and ensure required notifications are made within prescribed timeframes.
- Maintain incident records with root cause, impact, remediation, and lessons learned; escalate material incidents and track remediation through closure.
Risk Appetite Statement governance
- Own and maintain a current, board-approved Risk Appetite Statement aligned with risk capacity and strategic objectives.
- Define escalation thresholds and breach-reporting protocols across material risk categories.
- Report appetite breaches to senior management and, when material, to the board with cause, impact, and remediation details.
- Declare actual or potential conflicts and recuse from decisions where independence could be compromised.
Experience and regulatory knowledge
- At least 7 years of risk-management experience in financial services.
- Experience developing risk governance frameworks and overseeing a risk function.
- Understanding of UAE, ADGM, FSRA, and VARA regulatory frameworks.
- Knowledge of enterprise risk management, incident management, disaster recovery, and business risk assessments.
- Knowledge of digital-asset regulation and associated risks; strong interest in blockchain technology.
Leadership and other qualifications
- Leadership experience managing teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication skills and a reputation for integrity, transparency, and trust.
- UAE residency eligible and able to work regularly from ADGM.
- Experience in digital-asset firms, custody, or blockchain analytics tools is desirable.
