Tests radios, transceivers, solid-state power amplifiers, radar sensors, and GNSS receivers at card and box/LRU levels.

Takes hardware from initial bench bring-up through characterization, environmental exposure, and qualification; ensures hardware and test records meet engineering and quality requirements.

Serves as technical lead for EMI/EMC validation and owns multipaction analysis and testing for high-power RF assemblies in vacuum.

Responsibilities

  • Develop RF requirements, mitigation techniques, test plans, and procedures.
  • Lead EMI/EMC testing and advise on mitigation design.
  • Own multipaction and RF breakdown analysis and testing.
  • Support RF and avionics verification planning, design-for-testability, hardware bring-up, integration, debug, and troubleshooting.
  • Build and verify custom automated test equipment; characterize RF performance.
  • Coordinate facilities and resources, lead readiness and test execution, enforce safety, and resolve anomalies.
  • Produce verification records, coordinate external facilities and suppliers, improve procedures, and train test staff.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, or aerospace engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of aerospace test experience covering test development and execution, equipment/setup troubleshooting, and environmental testing.
  • At least 5 years of RF and avionics hardware test experience at card, box, or system level.
  • Experience planning and executing EMI/EMC testing and working knowledge of MIL-STD-461, DO-160, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation and proficiency with standard electronic laboratory test equipment.
  • Strong communication and multifunctional teamwork skills; able to work hands-on independently and with a team.
  • U.S. citizenship or national status, U.S. permanent residency, refugee status, or asylum status is stated as an export-control eligibility condition.

Preferred qualifications

  • Multipaction analysis and test experience, including ECSS-E-ST-20-01 or equivalent methods, is preferred.
  • Modeling tools such as SPARK3D, CST Particle Studio, FEST3D, or Ansys HFSS and high-power RF component knowledge are preferred.
  • Specialized chamber, thermal-vacuum, vibration, and custom automated test equipment experience is preferred.
  • Python instrument control/data analysis, Linux/Unix, git, JIRA, Windchill, qualification standards, and digital communications, GNSS, or radar test methods are preferred.

Compensation

  • Washington base pay range is $130,706 to $182,987.70 per year; ranges may differ at other sites.
