1. Job Overview
The D.General Manager (DGM) will oversee the entire strategic and operational landscape of a premier toy retail business in Saudi Arabia.
This role is responsible for driving sustainable growth, ensuring profitability, and maintaining a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving market.
The DGM will bridge the gap between high-level strategy and day-to-day execution across multiple retail branches and e-commerce platforms.
2. Functional Leadership (Key Focus Areas)
Purchasing & Supply Chain: Directing the sourcing strategy for international brands and local .
Managing relationships with global toy manufacturers and ensuring timely customs clearance and distribution within the Kingdom.
The DGM must move beyond simple "buying" to strategic procurement that accounts for international logistics and specific Saudi consumer trends.
Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management
Identify and negotiate with global toy giants (e.g., Lego, Hasbro, Mattel) for direct distribution rights or preferred pricing.
Manage a balanced mix of "Evergreen" stock (basics) and "Trend" stock (licensed movie merch, viral toys) to maximize freshness.
Implement Strategic Sourcing policies requiring at least three competitive quotes for non-exclusive items to optimize costs.
Inventory & Assortment Planning
Develop a seasonal procurement calendar around the Saudi peak periods: Ramadan, Eid-al-Fitr, Eid-al-Adha, and Back-to-School.
Execute weekly "New Line" selection and quarterly assortment sign-offs to ensure stock aligns with current Saudi market tastes.
Maintain an optimal Inventory Turnover Ratio (benchmark 2.5–4x) to prevent capital being locked in slow-moving stock.
Logistics & Compliance
Ensure all imported toys meet SABER/SASO certification standards and Saudi safety regulations.
Oversee the end-to-end supply chain, from international port arrival to last-mile delivery at KSA retail branches.
Finance: Total P&L accountability.
Overseeing budgeting, cash flow management, and financial forecasting to ensure healthy margins in a seasonal industry.
Human Resources: Building a high-performance culture.
Overseeing Saudization (Nitaqat) compliance, recruitment of specialized retail talent, and implementing training programs for floor staff.
The DGM holds total P&L accountability, focusing on preserving margins in a high-overhead retail environment.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Draft and manage the Annual Operating Budget (OPEX), covering rent, payroll, and marketing spend for all Saudi branches.
Produce monthly cash flow forecasts to ensure liquidity during high-volume purchasing months before peak seasons.
Profitability & Cost Control
Conduct monthly Variance Analysis (Actual vs.
Budget) to identify and rectify overspending in operational areas.
Monitor Inventory Shrinkage (aiming for \<1.6% loss) through improved audit controls and security measures.
Reporting & Compliance
Review monthly Profit & Loss (P&L), Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow statements for the Board.
Ensure all financial activities comply with ZATCA (Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority)
requirements
, including VAT filing.
Submit and follow up on all financial statements, and address the auditors' requirements.
Marketing & Branding: Driving footfall and online traffic through seasonal campaigns (Ramadan, Eid, Back-to-School).
Strengthening the brand’s presence in the Saudi market.
Operations: Ensuring world-class standards in store aesthetics, inventory accuracy (WMS), and customer service across all physical and digital touchpoints.
3. Core Tasks & Responsibilities
Develop and execute a 3-year business plan focused on market expansion within KSA.
Monitor daily sales performance and implement corrective actions for underperforming categories.
Lead the digital transformation of the retail experience, integrating O2O (Online-to-Offline) strategies.
Ensure all business activities comply with Saudi Labor Law and Ministry of Commerce regulations.
Conduct regular site visits to ensure brand consistency and operational excellence.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum 10–15 years in retail management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (DGM/Director level).
Experience
in the Toy, Baby, or Entertainment sector is highly preferred.
Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Saudi consumer landscape, Vision 2030 retail trends, and regional regulatory requirements.
Skills
Strong negotiation skills with international vendors, fluency in English (Arabic is a major advantage), and proficiency in retail ERP systems.
