Position and Reporting

  • Job Title: Restaurant Host/Hostess
  • Department: Front of House
  • Direct Supervisor: Restaurant Manager

General Objective

  • To warmly welcome restaurant guests, manage table reservations and waiting lists efficiently, and distribute guests to tables fairly to ensure visitor comfort and avoid pressure on the service team.

Main Responsibilities and Duties

  • Welcoming and Farewell: Greet guests with a smile upon entry and bid them farewell upon departure.
  • Reservation Management: Record and organize advance reservations via phone or online booking applications.
  • Waiting List Management: Smartly manage waiting lists and estimate wait times accurately for guests.
  • Guest Escorting: Lead guests to their tables and present menus to them.
  • Table Distribution: Distribute guests among service sections equitably to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Room Monitoring: Monitor occupied tables and coordinate with cleaning staff to prepare them promptly.
  • Handling Requests: Respond to guest inquiries regarding the menu, ingredients, and available services.
  • Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the reception and entrance area at all times.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma as a minimum (a college degree in hospitality is a plus).
  • Experience: 6 months to 1 year of experience in the restaurant or hotel sector or customer service.
  • Languages: Excellent communication skills in Arabic, and a good knowledge of English to interact with guests.
  • Appearance: Full compliance with the restaurant's formal appearance standards and high personal hygiene standards.

  • Flexibility and Calmness: Ability to smile and work efficiently under high pressure and during peak times.
  • Diplomacy and Tact: Skillfully handle interactions with upset or difficult guests.
