Role Overview

The R&D Specialist will contribute to the development, testing, and optimization of hydrometallurgical and lithium-related extraction processes, supporting both laboratory and pilot-scale activities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on experimentation, process innovation, and working in an early-stage, high-growth environment where technical contributions directly shape the company’s future direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute laboratory experiments related to:
  • Hydrometallurgical extraction
  • Lithium recovery and purification
  • Salt extraction and crystallization
  • Solvent extraction and separation processes
  • Battery materials and recycling applications
  • Support process optimization for yield, purity, efficiency, and scalability
  • Analyze experimental data and prepare technical documentation and reports
  • Assist with pilot-scale process development and scale-up initiatives
  • Conduct characterization and analytical testing of materials and process streams
  • Collaborate closely with founders, engineers, and external technical partners
  • Research emerging technologies, patents, and industry developments in lithium-ion and critical minerals processing
  • Maintain high standards of laboratory safety and operationl discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemistry, Process Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in hydrometallurgy, lithium-ion materials, salt extraction/refining, mineral processing, battery recycling, or chemical process development
  • Strong laboratory, experimental, and process optimization skills
  • Understanding of leaching, precipitation, crystallization, filtration, purification, and solvent extraction processes
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting capabilities

Preferred

  • Pilot plant or scale-up experience
  • Familiarity with ICP-OES, XRD, SEM, AAS, or related analytical tools
  • Startup or technology commercialization experience
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and problem-solving approach
