Reinsurance Technical Accountant and Credit Controller

About This Role

We have a very exciting position for a Reinsurance Technical Accountant and Credit Controller in Dubai at SHIELDS Reinsurance Brokers Ltd, regulated by the DFSA and admitted Broker at Lloyd's of London.

The Role

Summary : Provides high level Technical Reinsurance Accounting services, working within the Technical Accounting Team, and reporting to the inline Manager. Responsible for all aspects of Reinsurance Accounts including Credit Control, processing accounts, claims, creating reports, pre and post placement/claims services delivered to SHIELDS’ clients in addition to supporting the CEO as required. Develops and maintains strong clients’ and reinsurers’ relationships for all assigned accounts to ensure clients' satisfaction and compliance with SHIELDS’ service delivery requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

·       Ensure placed reinsurance programs are properly documented and recorded within SHIELDS’ client servicing systems.

·       Responsible for invoicing and settlement in accordance with contract terms.

·       Responsible for maintaining company’s records management and ensuring critical company updates are recorded.

·       Works within accounting team and ensure they are kept updated of issues and developing situations are escalated as necessary.

·       Ensuring clients and reinsurers are aware of and compliant with contractual reporting and payment terms.

·       Acts as an informational resource to colleagues, Clients and Management for assigned accounts.

·       Support and attends audits teams when necessary.

·       Maintains vigilant monitoring of contracts or programs for assigned clients and be aware of any anomalies.

·       Responsible for creating and providing Accounting and Management reports on weekly basis and/or spreadsheet analysis, as required.

·       Coordinates with team and assist with any cash issues that may arise

·       Ensures high priority cash items are communicated to clients/reinsurers for settlement outside of normal payment cycles

·       Maintains full awareness of unpaid items and status of collection efforts for periodic update and discussion with clients

·       Ensures any problem with collections are escalated to management’s attention and clients and reinsurers expectations are properly managed

·       Coordinates with clients any collateral adjustments

Adheres to standard internal policies and procedures, and other external regulatory requirements.

  Experience / Requirements:

·       Native or Bilingual English speaker is a requirement,

·        Experience as Technical Accountant with Reinsurance Broker or Insurance Company or Reinsurer is a MUST. (applications without such experience will not be considered)

·       Quick to learn new skills, comfortable communicating with clients and reinsurers, doing technical accounting work; data analysis and contract work.

Qualifications:

Holding a diploma in Higher Education with minimum 3 years’ Reinsurance experience with a Reinsurance Broker or Reinsurer

or Insurance Company or relevant industry experience.

Knowledgeable of Reinsurance contracts Fac and Treaty.

Skills:

The candidate will be expected to interact regularly with clients in order to successfully service and complete transactions, with an ability to operate independently and technically capable of the work required.
