Overview
Prepare the operating room and ensure all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and sterile before procedures.
Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals during surgical procedures.
Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery and provide appropriate nursing care.
Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure details according to established protocols.
Handle, count, and document surgical instruments, sponges, and supplies accurately.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and within the scope of nursing practice.
Observe and report changes in patients' conditions to the surgical team.
Ensure proper documentation of patient care, surgical procedures, and nursing interventions.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative education and support to patients and their families.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and comply with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain professional competence through continuing education and training.
