Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced
Red Hat OpenShift Resident Engineer
- **Dell AI Factory**
- platform.
- In this role, you will act as a
- trusted technical advisor
- , responsible for the
- day‑to‑day operation, stability, and optimization
- of a newly deployed AI infrastructure stack.
- The focus will be on
- Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and supporting infrastructure
- , ensuring the environment is secure, scalable, and ready to support production AI workloads.
- This position plays a key role in enabling data science and AI/ML teams to run
- training, inference, and GPU‑based workloads
- reliably and efficiently.
Platform Operations & Management
- Own and operate the customer’s
- Dell AI Factory platform running on Red Hat OpenShift
- Perform daily administration of
- OpenShift clusters
- (bare metal or virtualized)
- Manage cluster lifecycle activities including
- installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and scaling
- Monitor platform health, capacity, and performance; proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Manage Kubernetes resources such as
- namespaces, networking, and storage integrations
AI & Infrastructure Enablement
- Support
- AI/ML workloads
- , including GPU‑enabled training and inference
- Work closely with data science and application teams to onboard workloads to OpenShift
- Optimize configurations for
- performance, availability, and resource efficiency
- Assist with integrating AI tooling such as
- model pipelines, monitoring, and CI/CD workflows
Storage, Networking & Compute
- Manage and integrate enterprise storage solutions (e.g.
- Red Hat Ceph or equivalent
- )
- Troubleshoot container, cluster, and infrastructure‑level networking issues
- Ensure optimal use of compute resources, including
- GPU‑enabled nodes
Automation & DevOps
- Use
- Ansible and automation tools
- for repeatable operations and configuration management
- Support
- CI/CD pipelines
- and GitOps‑style operational models
- Promote
- infrastructure‑as‑code
- and operational best practices
Security & Reliability
- Implement and enforce
- OpenShift and Kubernetes security best practices
- Manage
- RBAC, certificates, and secrets
- Support platform hardening, backups, and
- disaster recovery
- processes
Advisory & Knowledge Transfer
- Act as a trusted advisor to customer engineering and IT teams
- Deliver
- hands‑on knowledge transfer
- , documentation, and runbooks
- Participate in architecture discussions and recommend platform improvements
- Liaise with
- Red Hat and Dell support
- when required
Technical Requirements
- Strong hands‑on experience administering
- Red Hat OpenShift in production
- Solid knowledge of
- Kubernetes, containers, and cluster operations
- Experience with
- bare‑metal and/or virtualized OpenShift environments
- Experience with enterprise storage platforms (preferably
Red Hat Ceph
- )
- Familiarity with
- AI/ML platforms and GPU workloads
- is highly desirable
- Strong
- Linux system administration
skills
- Hands‑on experience with
- Ansible or similar automation tools
Professional Experience
- **8+ years**
- of experience in enterprise infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering
- Prior experience as a
Resident Engineer, Consultant, or Embedded Engineer
- Strong troubleshooting skills across application, platform, and infrastructure layers
- Comfortable working in
- customer‑facing enterprise environments
