Recycling & Trading Manager
About This Role
Key Responsibilities
1. Scrap & Secondary Materials Procurement
- Develop and manage a diversified supplier base for copper and aluminium scrap (grades including No.1 & No.2 copper, armature, mixed cable scrap, aluminium clip/extrusion).
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and logistics terms with domestic and international scrap suppliers (GCC, Europe, Asia, Americas).
- Monitor LME/COMEX spot and forward prices to optimise procurement timing and costs.
- Ensure incoming materials meet quality specifications required for the copper and aluminium wire rod production process.
- Coordinate with the plant and quality teams to manage material acceptance, sampling, and yield tracking.
2. Sales & Commercialization of By-Products and Residues
- Identify, develop and manage customers for plant by-products, including smelting slags, dross, flue dust, cable insulation residues, and other recyclable waste streams.
- Negotiate sales agreements for secondary and residual materials to maximise their commercial value.
- Explore tolling, consignment, and spot sale models to optimise cash flow from residual materials.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market pricing for all relevant secondary commodities.
3. Circular Economy Strategy & Sustainability
- Lead the development and execution of Power Rack's Green Copper and circular economy roadmap.
- Identify opportunities to increase the use of recycled feedstock in production, reducing reliance on primary cathode.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and senior management on investment projects for scrap processing and recycling capacity.
- Prepare business cases, feasibility studies, and KPI frameworks for circular economy initiatives.
- Represent the company in sustainability, recycling, and industry forums across the GCC and internationally.
4. Trading, Risk & Compliance
- Manage commodity price risk exposure on scrap purchases and by-product sales in alignment with the company's hedging policy.
- Ensure all trading activities comply with applicable regulations in Saudi Arabia, UAE free zones, and relevant import/export jurisdictions.
- Maintain rigorous documentation for all transactions, including contracts, weight certificates, assay reports, and shipping documents.
- Monitor and manage counterparty risk across the supplier and buyer portfolio.
5. Stakeholder Management & Reporting
- Report directly to the CEO/General Manager on trading performance, market conditions, and strategic opportunities.
- Coordinate with Finance on budget, cost of materials, and revenue targets related to scrap and by-products.
- Liaise with logistics, warehouse, and production teams to ensure seamless material flow.
- Represent Power Rack professionally at trade events, client meetings, and industry associations.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
Degree
Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree is a plus.
Professional Experience
Experience
Minimum 8–12 years in scrap trading, commodity procurement, or circular economy roles within the metals, mining, or industrial manufacturing sector.
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of copper and aluminium metallurgy, scrap grading standards (ISRI codes or equivalent), and secondary metals market dynamics.
Commodity Markets
Solid working knowledge of LME and COMEX pricing mechanisms, premium/discount structures, and commodity price risk management.
Geography
Proven track record of sourcing or trading in GCC, Middle East, Europe, or Asia. Saudi Arabia market experience is a significant advantage.

Language Requirements
- Arabic: Native proficiency (mandatory requirement).
- English: Full professional proficiency (mandatory — all international trading and reporting).
- Additional languages (Spanish, Chinese, French, etc.): Considered a plus given the international sourcing scope.
