Role Overview
Discovery Charter School, located in Porter, is a K-8 school serving 500+ students from
Northwest Indiana.
Going into our 17th year, Discovery has established itself as one of
the top performing charter schools in the State of Indiana.
As a Recess Aide you will:
• Begin each grade level's recess with announcements (check-in)
• Observe students’ safety and behavior during recess
• Enforce all student recess expectations
• Carry a walkie talkie at all times to communicate with both the office and nurse
• Be made aware of all students with allergies and carry red bags with appropriate
medical equipment
• Facilitate peaceful resolution to conflict
• Report any concerns to the appropriate classroom teacher
• Seek assistance from the Principal in regards to students who commit acts
defined by the categories listed in the parent-student handbook
• Lead students to the lunch room in an orderly and safe manner
