Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Lead teams and promote health, safety, and environmental standards through briefings, training, and toolbox talks.
• Manage budgets, resources, productivity, team performance, and operational targets.
• Identify training needs and keep mandatory records current; coach staff and conduct appraisals and development planning.
• Plan team availability, including holiday and sickness cover, and provide field-based leadership through site visits.
• Improve quality and efficiency; reduce repeat work, defects, and operational waste.
• Resolve customer incidents, maintain emergency readiness, and participate in the standby rota.
• Coordinate with schedulers and operational teams; conduct safety and environmental audits.
• Deputise for the Supply Area Controller when required.

Candidate requirements

• Relevant utility repair and maintenance experience; five years is preferred.
• SMSTS or SSSTS and NRSWA Section S1 monitoring, signing, lighting and guarding.
• Full UK driving licence and a working understanding of CDM.
• Basic computer literacy, leadership and team development skills, and ability to plan and organise work.
• Customer-service and quality focus, willingness to learn, and ability to develop improvements and influence senior managers.
