About This Role
Role Purpose
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all cost-related aspects of projects, including estimation, tender preparation, cost control, subcontractor management, and valuation of works.
The role ensures projects are executed within approved budgets while maintaining commercial accuracy and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project specifications, drawings, and tender documents to understand scope of work and prepare accurate cost estimates and BOQ analysis.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and obtain approvals prior to submission of tenders.
- Prepare and submit complete tender proposals, including technical and commercial submissions.
- Issue material enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors and obtain competitive quotations.
- Evaluate, compare, and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations to achieve best commercial value.
- Prepare interim and final valuations for completed works and support payment certification processes.
- Measure and evaluate variations, additional works, and changes in project scope, and prepare variation cost proposals for negotiation.
- Review subcontractor invoices, evaluate completed works, and recommend payment approvals in line with contract terms.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and BOQ preparation
- Excellent cost estimation and analytical skills
- Strong negotiation and commercial awareness
- Understanding of contracts, variations, and subcontractor management
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
- High attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Strong communication and coordination skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience as Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or Cost Control Engineer in construction or related industries
- Familiarity with tendering, procurement, and subcontractor evaluation processes
- Experience working with consultants, contractors, and project teams
- **Experience in sports, fitness, or leisure facility projects would be an added advantage**
